Tools Review

For this project I had to use the tools: Elliptical Marquee, Quick Selection, Polygonal Lasso, Magic Wand, Refine Edge, Layer Mask, Resized Imaged and Changed Resolution.
First, I changed the image size and resolution: Image-Image Size-Width to 8 and height to 10-then I clicked ok.

I used the elliptical marquee tool to select the eye from a picture of my cousin. I used the polygonal lasso tool to cut the eyelid part off from the eye and I then refined the edge. \

After that I used the quick selection tool to select my friend Gwen's silver ring. I used the keys ctrl c and ctrl v to copy and paste to the background picture.

Next, I used the magic wand tool to select the solid teal nail polish and paste it to my background image.

The last thing I did was click on the hot dog layer (which I copied and pasted after quick selecting) and click the layer mask tool. Then I selected the paintbrush tool and used it to make the illusion that part of the hot dog was under the plate.

Pop Art 2x2 with Dots

In order to do this one, I followed all the same steps as the one before, except I used the picture WITH the Ben-Day dots.

Pop Art 2x2

In order to complete this I took the finished Pop Art picture, dragged it to a new 10x10 300 resolution Photoshop page, used the keys Ctrl +J to copy it four times. Next, I arranged the four into a 2x2 and used the crop tool to erase the remaining white spots.

Pop Art

For this project I used the tools Dodge and Burn after I made the image grey scale, then dodged and burned the image in places I wanted to make appear lighter or darker/dodged or burnt.
Next, I chose colors to fill the places I wanted to be boldly colored. After coloring each thing on a separate layer, I decided to put in Ben-Day dots as needed. I chose Gwen's skin, her jacket, and the Frisbee. I did this by using the window for Filter, selecting Sketch, then Halftone Pattern. After that I selected the size and contrast I wanted for the dots.

Change My Look

In order to complete this project, I first edited my eyes and changed the color by using the tool the Elliptical Marquee. Next, I changed the color of the photo by using hue and saturation, then used the keys Ctrl backspace. After that, I colored in my hair and changed it to a light brown color. Then, I quick selected as much of me as I wanted and pasted myself to a background image that I found on Google. Next, I used three images from Google (kitten, vase, and room divider) and pasted them to my image.
In order to complete the "change my friend's look" project, I used the same exact steps, except instead of green, I changed Gwen's eyes to blue and used a different color brown for her hair.

Blake Lively Changed Hair and Eyes

To complete this project, I used the elliptical marquee to select the part of the eye I wanted to alter the color of. Then, I used the Polygonal Lasso Tool to deselect the parts I didn't want to color change (for instance, the eyelid and waterline.)\
In order to change the hair color, I first changed the whole color of the picture, then narrowed it down to the hair only, while on the Hue & Saturation setting. Then I slid up and down on that setting until I found the color I liked.

Montage

In order to complete this project, I followed a simple set of directions.
  • I copied and pasted the roses and used the Layer Mask Tool to erase the leaves on the bouquet
  • I altered the photo filter to Sepia then dragged the Colosseum to the Montage
  • I used the Elliptical Marquee Tool to outline the coin and drag it to the Montage
  • I dragged the couple photo to the Montage
  • I dragged the pen and tilted it
  • I dragged the Euros and adjusted the size
  • I added the "Our Roman Holiday" text to the Montage
  • Then, I added a Drop Shadow to all the images, except the roses

Magic Wand

In order to complete this exercise, I had to use the magic wand tool to select the part of the image I wanted to use to create a new image (the robot dog).

Landscape Excercise

In order to complete this exercise, I had to cut out and copy (using the lasso tool) from the landscape given, then paste them to a blank paper I had opened in Photoshop. I arranged them into a picture of a girl and a house behind her.

Layer Mask Project

In order to complete this project, I first had to save an image of any landscape I chose. Then, I had to find a sky I liked and at least three images I wanted to paste into the image (including a tree).
Next, I dragged the image of the sky and all the other images I wanted onto the landscape and turned on the Layer Masking Tool. From there, I used the white and black paint brush (on the softest setting) to outline or cutout each image and make it look as if it were meant to be there.

Layer Adjustments

Mail :)

B&W- In order to adjust this image to b&w, I used the "black and white tool." Once I had selected the tool, I adjusted the lightness and darkness of the black and white.

Roadside

Brightness&Contrast- In order to adjust the brightness and contrast for this picture, I slid up and down the brightness and contrast until I had the lighting I preferred.

 Grace

Color Balance- For this picture I selected a color on a scale that I wanted the color to be tinted. I chose a blue-ish/green color which gave her eyes more of a contrast.

Modest Mouse

Exposure- For exposure, I got to play around with three tools: Exposure, Offset, and Gamma Correction. These tools changed the lightness and darkness of the photo.

Mustang Pride

Hue- To change the hue of this photo, I chose a color (orange) and that was reflected in the orange squares (displayed to the left.)
I could make it more or less contrasting to the other colors using a  sliding tool.

Summer's Boots

Invert- For this photo, I used the tool, "Invert."
That made all the colors opposite (or negative) of what they originally were.

Dashboard

Photo Filter- Using the Photo Filter tool on this photo, I picked a color (teal), then used the lever titled "Density" and slid it up or down depending on how teal I wanted the picture to be tinted.

Road Ahead

Vibrance- For this tool, Vibrance, I used the two levers, "Vibrance" and "Saturation." Sliding the lever up and down on each that displayed different levels of vibrance and saturation.

Gorrelephly: My Crazy Combo

To complete this project, "Crazy Combos," I first saved a multitude of pictures of cute animals along with some accessories (for example: hat, shoes). I opened each picture in Photoshop and used the quick selection tool to select as much of each image as I wanted. Once I had selected the image, I copied and pasted those images to the background (which I had already chosen.) When I had pasted the wings on my elephant head I needed to blend them together, so I used the eraser on the blurriest setting and blurred around the edges. Then, in order to make the color of the trunk and the gorilla body the same as the pig nose, I used the eye dropper tool; then the color replacement tool. When I was finished with my animal image, I used the text tool to write the name of my animal, "Gorrelephly."
